But the most important question is - Why should I join the Booster Club?

The Lady Icers are a club team, therefore they do not receive full funding from the university. By joining the booster club, you will be helping them reach their goal of becoming national champions. All proceeds of the booster club help pay for travel expenses, ice costs, league fees, and other miscellaneous expenses. However
helping the Lady Icers isn't the only benefit to joining the booster club.
Members receive a customized membership card, free refreshments at home games, and additional benefits.
This team is destined for greatness, be a part from the start.

A History of the Lady Icers
The Lady Icer hockey team was created when two Penn State students approached the rink supervisor in 1996 and inquired why there was no women's team at the University. After discovering that there was a lot of interest around campus, a team was quickly formed and practices began on Oct. 31, 1996. The team's first game was played on Feb. 1, 1997. The Lady Icers won their inaugural game by defeating the Harrisburg Rockettes, 5-4. As a reflection of the growth of women's ice hockey, during the first season, the Lady Icers faced six opponents. Since then, the team has expanded their schedule to a minimum of twenty games. The team is now an official Penn State club team. The team has access to University facilities and programs. From a team where more than half the members had no ice hockey or competitive experience, the Lady Icers now have players on the team with many years of competitive experience, which has led to tryouts the past three years. In 1999, the inaugural season of the Mid-Atlantic Women's Collegiate Hockey Association (MAWCHA), the Lady Icers went undefeated and claimed the league championship. In the 2000-2001 season, the Lady Icers began competition in the inaugural ACHA Women's Division. The team earned the number one ranking in the Eastern Division during the regular season, securing a birth at the first ever ACHA Women's Division National Championship in St. Louis, Missouri. In the 2001-2002 season, the team continued to make history as it once again earned a birth in the eight team National Tournament, and brought home its first ever ACHA trophy as the third best team in the Nation. Finally, last season, a young Lady Icers' team again earned a birth to the National Tournament, making them one of the only teams in the history of the ACHA to be invited to every National Tournament. Each year both the competition and the Lady Icers have grown, showing that women's hockey at Penn State is here to stay!
